Happy 2020

Happy 2020

It is not January 2020. It is hard to believe it has been a year since I started this web page. I know it has been a long time since I posted anything in this blog. This year I am making a conscious effort to post more and put up more info and content on the page.

RECAP of 2019

A recap of last year. I started this page to learn more about drink I love, sake. I created this page in an effort to teach myself about sake and to maybe inspire others to dive into the world of sake. I also took the WSET Level 1 Award in Sake class that was taught by man with a title of Sake Samurai. I successfully passed the test and earned my award. In that class I learned how sake is produced and to me that was the most fascinating thing for me. I really get a kick out of seeing how things are produced. (As a side note I work in the manufacturing sector. So, you can see my day job also allows me to see what goes on behind the scenes.)

One of the things I learned at the course is that I need to work on my tasting skills. I am more of the “crack open the bottle and start drinking it” type. That is how I enjoy drinking it. While I do take the time to appreciate as I drink it. Becoming a sake sommelier is not in my plans for the immediate future yet, but when I should be ready when I decide to go for it. It is skill I know I will need to improve on.

GOALS FOR 2020

Well I have some small goals I believe are obtainable for this year. They are as follows:

1. Post more to the web page (at least monthly)

2. Take and pass the Sake Professionals Course

3. Try my hand a brewing a small batch of sake at home

4. Improve my tasting abilities.

Please join me as I work on meeting these goals. I hope your 2019 was good and I hope you all have a great 2020.
